Outside doors to flats 34-42 Avenue close, Avenue road. St. John's Wood London NW8 6DA . "I first remember this tree in 1960, when I was a child. Even at that time it was very old. The trunk had split and was held together by steel bands. Even then it looked very old. Even now when I visit there the tree looks as if it will go on forever" Editor's Note: The Avenue Close flats were built in 1935 in the grounds of a mansion called The Poplars, and opposite another large house called The Elms. The mulberry would probably have belonged to The Poplars. see research article here: https://www.moruslondinium.org/research/the-poplars-st-johns and here: http://www.stjohnswoodmemories.org.uk/content/new-contributions/frida_mond
