An old black mulberry with multiple stems layering from single large bole, just by a path leading to the Chelsea Yacht and Boat Club. A little garden is shown here on the 1865 OS map of Chelsea, before the embankment was extended to Battersea Bridge. The tree appears on a late 18th c sketch 'Plan of Sharon' relating to plans for the Moravian site behind Lindsey House. Could be a very old tree. One stem measured as 142 cm, another 132 cm. Hollow. Has been pruned / pollarded probably because of proximity to main road.
