There are several very old black mulberry trees in the private gardens of houses on Chiswick Mall. Some are probably as old as the houses themselves (1730s). For reasons of privacy, the addresses are not given here, but some have been verified by us. One has a girth of 300 cm (measured by PC),. An adjacent garden has one with a girth of 270 cm. Both were possibly part of an older orchard. Others located on the Mall and nearby are equally ancient. There is a Mulberry Cottage on Netheravon Rd S nearby, as well as Mulberry Place (eastern end of Chiswick Mall) and a Mulberry House on Chiswick Lane (north of the Great West Road (not sure if any still has an old mulberry, but the name must have been given for a reason. There is also, of course, the 18th c Hogarth's House on Hogarth Lane with its celebrated black mulberry tree.
